ISS engineers interact with US and allied/coalition end-users to assist in the articulation and formal documentation of functional requirements. Translate users' functional requirements into simple, effective, and easily understood logical data models (e.g., Entity-Relationship Diagrams), process models (e.g., Data Flow Diagrams, Use Case Diagrams) and network models (e.g., Location Connectivity Diagrams). Document the requirements analysis, systems engineering, and systems development processes and all appropriate associated activities. Thoroughly test integrated computer code, local area networking, telecommunications, information security, information management, and/or other IT solutions to ensure they operate properly within their implementation environments and provide full interoperability with all other designated US Government, NATO, and/or other allied systems. Support the turnover of integrated computer code, local area networking, telecommunications, information security, information management, and/or other IT solutions to Operations and Maintenance personnel, to include such activities as installation assistance, initial operation, and technical training.
Integrate developed computer applications and services, local area networking, telecommunications, information security, information management, and/or other IT solutions into the existing LOCE architecture and/or new architectures based on the LOCE model.
Utilizing a variety of commercial products founded on open standards such as a scalable directory server based on Light-Weight Directory Access Protocol (LPAD), a certificate management system with a robust, customizable PKI (x.509) foundation, and an identity server for single sign-on capability, the LOCE R&D team successfully integrated and tightly joined these and other products using Java, XML and application specific Advance Programming Interfaces (API) and libraries. Developed training plans to include online training and course development material for new and enhanced software for the LOCE users.
